Route Load Task

In this article, you will learn how to start and complete a Route Load Task in your driver app.

This article covers:

Completing the Route Load Task

When your route is ready, you will see a Route Load task at the start of your task list in the Onfleet driver app. You must complete this task before you can begin any deliveries.

To complete the Route Load task:

  1. Open the Onfleet driver app and navigate to your assigned route.
  2. Tap the Route Load task to open it. You will see a list of all packages expected for your route.
  3. Load your packages onto the vehicle in the order shown. The list is organized in route order to make loading faster.
  4. Verify each package by scanning its barcode or manually checking it off (depending on your organization's setup).
  5. Once all packages are verified, mark the Route Load task as complete.
  6. You can now begin your route.

Note: Once you have started the Route Load task, no additional packages or barcodes can be added. Contact your dispatcher if changes are needed before you begin.

Scanning Barcodes

If your organization uses barcode scanning, you will use the Onfleet app's built-in scanner to verify packages during the Route Load task.

To scan a barcode:

  1. Tap the scan icon within the Route Load task.
  2. Point your camera at the package barcode.
  3. The app will automatically register the scan and mark the package as verified.
  4. Continue scanning until all packages are verified.

Scanning modes:

  • Multiscan mode: The scanner stays open after each scan so you can scan multiple packages quickly without reopening the scanner each time.
  • Pinpoint mode: You must align the barcode with the center of the screen to scan. This gives you more control over which barcode is captured.

Note: If a barcode is damaged or unreadable, use manual verification to check off the package instead. Contact your dispatcher if you are unsure.

What to Do if a Package is Missing

If you cannot locate a package during the Route Load task, do not skip it without following these steps. Your dispatcher will be alerted so the issue can be resolved before you leave the hub.

To report a missing package:

  1. Locate the package in your Route Load task list.
  2. Select the option to mark it as not loaded.
  3. Choose a reason code from the list provided (e.g., package not found, damaged, left at hub).
  4. Your dispatcher will receive a real-time alert and will follow up with the next steps.
  5. Once all packages are accounted for, complete the Route Load task and begin your route.

Note: Do not leave the hub without completing the Route Load task. If you have questions or need assistance, contact your dispatcher before departing.
