In this article, you will learn about Barcode Scanning and Age Verification, both of which can be used by organizations as a method for proof of delivery.
Note: These features are only available on the Scale & Enterprise plans.
Barcode Scanning
Onfleet's barcode scanning feature enables drivers to make a record of multiple barcodes upon task completion using your device's camera.
After barcode scanning has been enabled by your administrator, you will be given the option to scan barcodes upon task completion.
Administrators can specify whether barcodes should be required or optional during task creation via the API.
Multiple barcodes can be scanned for a single task. Simply select the 'Scan Barcode' button and proceed to scan the next barcode.
After task completion, your dispatcher will have access to the barcodes that were scanned in the completed tasks' timeline from the dashboard.
Barcode Scanning Mode
The "Barcode Scanning Mode" is a feature that allows you to set a preference for how you would like to end scanning. To select your mode, you can select your App settings and find the feature under the "Advanced" heading. This mode allows the app to determine when the barcode scanning process is finished and automatically closes the barcode scanning screen on your app.
The modes and their features are:
- Single - Stops scanning automatically after the first barcode is detected.
- Multiple - Does not stop scanning automatically - the driver must cancel scanning manually.
- Auto - (default) The Onfleet app will check if there are required barcodes and stops scanning when all required barcodes are scanned.
Note: If scanning is finished automatically you are able to scan additional barcodes manually. However, if your organization has set "Scans Only Required Barcodes" as a requirement on the tasks, you will be unable to scan any additional barcodes.

Age Verification
Onfleet's Age Verification feature enables drivers to verify the recipient's age from a government-issued ID upon task completion using your device's camera.
This feature is currently limited to organizations located in countries in which government-issued identification has a PDF-417 barcode or TD1, TD2 and TD3 barcodes.
Please note: Government-issued visas cannot be scanned.
Once the feature is enabled administrators can specify a minimum age (in years) upon creating or editing a task. As a driver, you will be required to scan a valid ID (or manually enter the date of birth) to verify that the recipient is at or above your minimum age requirement prior to being able to complete the task.
If your organization is based in a country in which the government-issued identification does not have a scalable barcode, your team may opt to take a picture of the ID and manually enter the birth date. Alternatively, you can manually enter the date of birth if a barcode is not available on the ID.
Administrators can allow for the Date of Birth from a scanned ID to be available via task export as well. To enable the export of the Date of Birth scanned, please log into the administrator account, select "Settings" then click "Organization" from there click on "Show ID scan data in export".
Note: The barcode scanner on government-issued IDs needs to store the birthday information in the same format as Onfleet’s validation - YYYY-MM-DD. If you are based in a country other than the USA and Canada and run into an error when scanning the ID for age verification, please proceed with manually entering the birth date on the app.
