In this article, you will learn about Onfleet Chat and how it allows dispatchers and drivers to communicate instantly, without leaving the dashboard or driver app.
Note: Chat is only available in the Basic plan and above. For more info about Onfleet's plans, visit our pricing page.
Chat must be first enabled within the Add-ons tab in your dashboard settings (only your organization's administrator can access this tab, but once enabled all dispatchers and drivers will have access to the feature).
Start a New Conversation
Once enabled for your organization, all dispatchers will see a sidebar located in the left area of the dashboard (it may take several minutes to update - refresh your dashboard after enabling the feature). By clicking the 'New conversation' icon at the top of the chat sidebar, you will be able to initiate a private conversation with an individual driver, a dispatcher, or a combination of both drivers and dispatchers for a group chat.
Online drivers and dispatchers will appear with a green highlight around their initials/image and each sub-list is ordered alphabetically. You can use the search field at the top to quickly filter the list to find specific drivers.
You and your driver can also attach images and send voice notes through chat.
When you receive a message, you will be alerted through dashboard and browser alerts; additionally, the sender will appear at the top of the chat sidebar with a red dot.
To broadcast an announcement or chat to multiple team members, you can select the team members you would like to include in the chat by selecting the team members in the chat window, then select the arrow located on the bottom right to create the group chat:
